Resolutions
The past few days I saw tons of Derby resolution posts on Tumblr, the idea seemed useful so for the first time ever : here are my 2012 resolutions ^^ (derby related and some other ones).
Derby :
-Gain speed
-Learn to really give/take hits
-Work out on non training days
-Work on push ups/sit ups
-When the weather is better : skate outside !
-Try to jam more/be more confident as a jammer
-Dare to attack walls
-FINALLY find a derby name !
Other :
-Get started with the French course
-Read at least 25 books
-Find a job
-Think about further education
-Get a decent aquarium for my turtle
-Get drivers license
-Because I neglected this in 2011 :see more films at the theatre
-Learn to cook
-finally organise vinyl collection +digitalise it
-buy a decent bed
-spend more time with friends

Film:Heat
"Don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner."
I've been watching some Micheal Mann films lately and so far heat is my favorite.
It's an action movie but not the cliché of a testosterone and explosion filled action film. No annoyingly fast montage or explosions all over the place. It has an excellent cast : Robert De Niro AND Al Pacino (+young Natalie Portman !) and a great director of photography.
I especially loved the scenes at night in MCcauley's apartment with a wonderful view of the ocean.
The story is rather simple : Neil MCcauley is a career criminal with a love for big heists.
When a job goes wrong he is hunted by diehard cop Vincent Hanna(Pacino) . While Hanna is closing in on the criminals MCcauley wants to pull off one last big score...

One Love Roller Dolls
I had the best Fresh meat day ever this sunday with the One love roller dolls ! No kidding :D.
I first read about roller derby about a year ago on Will Wheaton's blog ,
I thought the sport looked awesome but had no idea that you could play it here in Belgium.
So when I saw articles appearing in the newspaper about a Belgian roller derby team in Antwerp I was so exited that I decided I absolutely had to try this sport.
A bit nervous but very exited I went to the long awaited Fresh Meat day.
After the welcome and the getting the gear on it was time for our first training.
Because it was most people's first time on traditional roller skates we mainly concentrated on learning how to stop , fall and turn. The turning and falling weren't a problem but damn those stops are hard :p. And after a few games we got to play a simplified roller derby game,which was the most awesome thing ever.
I think I'm hooked to this awesome sport & fantastic team , can't wait for the next training (tomorrow).

just read this on the Nasa website :
"PASADENA, Calif.
NASA is ending attempts to regain contact with the long-lived Mars Exploration Rover Spirit, which last communicated on March 22, 2010. "

The spirit landed on mars in 2004 for a 3 month mission , but three months became 6 years . They lost contact with the little robot on 22th of march 2010 , chances are big the machine didn't survive the last hard martian winter

Kiff
A few months ago when the last of my pet mice died , my grandfather bought me a hamster (he didn't like mice).
I choose a hyperactive teeny-tiny Roborowski dwarf hamster, the smallest and fasters of all hamsters.
At first it was impossible to take any pictures because she was so fast and terrified of the camera but now I finally managed to take a non-blurry picture.
So I present you : Kiff (named after the green squishy thing from futurama)

Yesterday I saw blade runner again, I love the whole look of the film and how they styled the big rainy city. Favourite scene has to be Roy's speech right before he "dies".

day 27 : movie with your favourite villain
Villains are awesome, and this is a tough choice but I'm going for a more unconventional approach of a villain here :
Unbreakable - M night shyamalan ,
with Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price
I loved his speech at the ending of the film :
"In a comic, you know how you can tell who the arch-villain's going to be?
He's the exact opposite of the hero, and most time's they're friends, like you and me. I should've known way back when. You know why, David?
Because of the kids. They called me Mr. Glass."

Day 24: Movie with your favorite soundtrack
I'm a soundtrack geek I can't just choose one :D really.
so instead of the favourite movie here are my favourite composers :
First and most important : Clint Mansell.
My all time favourite soundtrack composer in the history of ever !
Everybody knows this guy from the "requiem for a dream" soundtrack and more specific from the overused Lux Aeterna.
Don't get me wrong I love lux aeterna I just don't think it's necessary to use it in every ff'n movie trailer.
And the Requiem for a dream soundtrack has other great tunes like "summer hope ouverture" or "conney Island dreaming" or the "ghosts of a future lost".
I also adore the music mansell composed for the fountain,another great Aronofsky film.
without his soundtrack the movie wouldn't be half as awesome as it is now.
And of course moon,a homage to 70's science fiction by duncan jones. This soundtrack isn't as dramatic as the previous 2, but it fits the film perfectly.

I only know his "28 days later" soundtrack and I loved it.
In the house-in a heartbeat is my undisputed favourite. this is also the most dramatic scene of the film( to bad I couldn't find it on youtube).

Day 21: movie with your favourite actor
Priscilla queen of the dessert :D
With Hugo Weaving as Mitz/Tick, but weaving is great in any movie.
I've been a fan of Weaving since the matrix and I think it's great he has a great diversity in his role-picking : Elrond (lotr) agent Smith(matrix) - V- Mitzi - Abberline(wolfman)...
Gladiator
With Joaquin Phoenix as Commodus, because Commodus is awesome :D and so is Phoenix .
and last but not least :
Hopkins in the hannibal trilogy but I'm saving that one for the villain list

Day 19: Film that made you cry the hardest
This has to be the bubble (buah-ha)
I was a teary mess when I left the theatre after watching this one
The story is about 3 friends in Tel Aviv , Noam Lulu and Yali who share an appartment together and live a fairly bohemian life. Tel Aviv is called a "bubble" because it's consirered as a sort of peaceful "island" within a tumultuous region.
Noam and Yali are both gay and in the film Noam gets into a relationship with Ashraf a Palestine he met while doing his army duty at checkpoint Nabulus .
I can't tell to much about the story without spoiling the whole film but the ending is really tragic.
